We have an exciting opportunity to join the Wales Kidney Research Unit (WKRU) team at Cardiff University. We are seeking an Administrator to join us to provide comprehensive professional administrative support to the delivery of the WKRU project and research related activities.

This School of Medicine post will be aligned with the Wales Kidney Research Unit and is based on the Heath Park Campus. We are looking for a candidate who is experienced in working on a variety of administrative tasks and can deliver and meet deadlines. The post holder will support the WKRU manager through a variety of functions, including administrative duties related to the WKRU project (such as contributing to reports, organising meetings between stakeholders, taking minutes, and information dissemination via social media and the WKRU website).

Experience of working as an Administrative Officer in a research environment or similar role is essential.

This post is part time (17.5 hours per week), fixed term until 31st March 2028 and is available from 1st April 2025.

Salary: £27,644 – £30,805 per annum, pro-rata for hours worked (Grade 4). Appointments to roles at Cardiff University are usually made at bottom of scale unless in exceptional circumstances.

The majority of roles at Cardiff University are currently operating under “blended working” arrangements, with staff having the flexibility to work partly from home and partly from the University campus depending on specific business requirements.

Providing comprehensive and professional support to the Wales Kidney Research Unit/School of Medicine, providing support and guidance on the delivery of the WKRU project and research related activities.

Duties And Responsibilities

Key Duties

• Provide detailed advice and guidance on the Wales Kidney Research Unit processes and procedures to internal and external customers (staff, students or members of the public), using judgement and creativity to suggest the most appropriate course of action, and contributing to the solving of more complex issues.
• Work with others to make recommendations to improve our ways of working.
• Establish productive relationships with key individuals (University colleagues and external contacts) to help improve the level of service the team provides to its customers.
• Perform a variety of administrative duties to support the team and department achieve its objectives.
• Gather and analyse data (e.g. from word documents, excel files) so that informed decisions can be made, establishing basic trends and patterns in the data and providing reports and recommendations for management.
• Instruct and guide colleagues across the University within the Wales Kidney Research Unit as required.
