To carry out assigned tasks and duties that support and complement the work of dietitians based at Torbay Hospital. This includes collecting patient information from inpatients and outpatients, to aid dietetic assessment and monitoring progress with dietetic plans.
The dietetic support worker will work as part of a team sharing responsibility for the smooth running of the acute dietetic service. This post will support the acute dietitians with the day-to-day care of both inpatients and outpatients. Part of the job will be based on the intensive care unit directly providing nutritional care for our patients by supporting food choices, taking measurements of body composition and inputting data into a database. The role includes review of patients nutritional care plans on the wards or via telephone, administration to support the dietitians (including catering projects and overseeing supplies of oral nutritional supplements) and project work to raise the profile of the team, including training to ward staff to optimise food choices and updating the team website.
