To help provide leadership and management to the hospital support team in terms of the day-to-day running of the provision of palliative medicine services across the Trust
To supplement the hospital Specialist Palliative care teams teaching of training grade doctors in the provision of palliative medicine services.
To be an active member of the multidisciplinary team to enhance and deliver excellent patient care.
To deliver evidence based palliative care to patients and take a lead in clinical audit within the department.
This post forms part of a multi-professional effort and the post holder will be expected to show a high degree of commitment to co-operative team working with staff of different disciplines.
All duties will be under the supervision of either the Consultant in Palliative Medicine or the Medical Director.
This is an exciting opportunity for a Locally Employed Clinical Fellow in Palliative Medicine to join our team here at the Princess Alexandra Hospital. The successful candidate will be part of an enthusiastic and forward-thinking team, driving forward service improvements. The successful candidate should have an interest in Palliative Medicine with relevant experience, and be registered and licensed with the General Medical Council.
This post provides an ideal opportunity to build on that experience. Although this is not a training post the post holder will be able to access education sessions and supervision within the hospital to support their professional development.
To provide day to day medical cover for hospital inpatients in accordance with current policy and protocols together with the other non-consultant medical staff and under the guidance of the consultant(s) in Palliative Medicine.
To participate in new and follow up reviews of inpatients, multi-disciplinary team meetings and ward rounds.
To communicate with patients and their families and provide adequate information and support.
To ensure the keeping of accurate and contemporaneous records, both hand-written and electronic.
To participate in education and training activities
To participate in departmental audit activities.
To participate in regular appraisal of performance and training needs as well as take responsibility for engaging in annual GMC required appraisal.
To undertake Continuing Professional Development and revalidation activities in accordance with prevailing requirements.
