This post is an exciting opportunity to work within Tayside Children’s Hospital at Ninewells

We are looking for an individual who is keen to expand their skills and to work as part of our multi-disciplinary team and who would enjoy the challenge of working within a busy environment.

The Healthcare support worker will provide a high standard of care under the supervision of the registered nurse

To meet the challenges of this position the individual(s) must have experience of working with children and their families and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

An NNEB certificate or SVQ II / SVQ III are an essential.

We will offer the individual(s) a comprehensive orientation package, encompassing a training and education programme suitable to the needs of the individual.

Your performance must comply with the national “Mandatory Induction Standards for Healthcare Support Workers 2009” and with the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers.

Hours of work: Days and Nights over 7 days


NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
