The Clinical Engineering department is looking to recruit self-motivated Apprentice Clinical Engineering Technicians to join the busy and enthusiastic Clinical Engineering team in maintaining and repairing specialist equipment used to diagnose, treat and support patient care. On the job and relevant academic training will be provided and study time allowed to support completion of relevant qualifications.
You must be able to demonstrate a high level of manual dexterity in using a range of engineering tools and test equipment. The successful candidate will demonstrate a flexible and adaptable approach to working in both a clinical and workshop environment. Experience in fault-finding techniques of electrical and electronic equipment is desirable and an ability to work with IT systems would also be an advantage.
The apprenticeship is fixed term for 4 years (depending on if you have completed the first year of the course or not), but there will be a permanent position following successful completion of this course.

Main duties of the jobBand 3 or Band 4 Trainee Clinical Engineer to undertake a training program:
Depending on your current qualifications and experience Annex 21 may be used:
Band 3:
If you don't have the working experience or the qualification but you would like to receive full training with the potential of progressing to become a Qualified Clinical Engineer. Training will provided in-house and by Medical equipment suppliers training courses.
Band 4:
You may be part way through a recognised college course or qualified with a suitable level 3 qualification already. Possibilities exist to continue your academic progress through day or block release at a local college to a level 4 Engineering qualification.
