About The RoleWork With Us!
We are on the search for a passionate and enthusiastic youth worker to join our Networks team. This is a fantastic opportunity to enhance the lives and prospects of young people in Dorchester and the surrounding villages. We want someone who is passionate, committed and understands the issues facing local young people.
The role
You will assist with the running of a major project, NETWORKS, which has approximately 4 years of funding from the National Lottery's Reaching Communities Fund remaining. NETWORKS runs drop-in sessions and provides 1-1 and other support to young people who are Not in Education, Employment or Training (NEET). The project is about supporting young people to identify and overcome the barriers which are preventing them from achieving their goals. The post is for 20 hours per week, 40 weeks per year, during school term time. The hours worked will be mostly during the day.
You will:
• Assist the Project Coordinator in the smooth running of our NETWORKS project.
• Support young people to engage in the planning and evaluation of sessions.
• Provide young people with practical support and skills to re-engage with education, training or employment.
• Help maintain and develop links with local schools, colleges and employers; help organise visits to and from external agencies and services.
• Develop and maintain local knowledge in order to provide young people with relevant and up to date information about local opportunities and services, and support young people to access them.
• Undertake Young People's Mental Health First Aid training and deliver 1-1 and group work mental health sessions.
• Assist with the planning and the delivery of activities which promote health, well-being, social and emotional development.
• Ensure the safeguarding and welfare of the young people attending, and maintain accurate records.
• Follow DYCC policies and procedures.
Pay will be £13.00 per hour for hours worked. Holiday pay (12%) will be paid in addition.
We are ideally looking for an individual with a Level 2 Youth Work qualification. However we are willing to consider applications from individuals who can demonstrate transferable skills, experience of working with young people, and are willing to undertake youth work training.
Closing date: 17 June 2024
Email [email protected] for more information and to be sent an application form or use the application form here.
Due to the nature of the work all successful applicants for paid and voluntary positions will be required to undertake a DBS enhanced disclosure.
