, supporting rough sleeping individuals throughout their treatment journey and successfully supporting their move on into suitable housing arrangements.

In this exciting and dynamic role, you'll be part of a busy, friendly team supporting those who are street homeless to get where they want to be and making a real difference in their lives.

No two days are the same you’ll need to be flexible in your approach providing the best service for people experiencing homelessness and you’ll have to be proactive to ensure their ongoing support. Good communication skills, team-working, and an understanding of the issues faced by people experiencing homelessness/vulnerable individuals is essential (and having good knowledge of the city and partnership links is desirable).

Responsibilities


Given the nature of the job you will be required to work some unsocial hours, and some knowledge of at least one of the following is required homelessness mental health, criminal justice system, and substance use. Plus, as recording information is an essential part of the role, enjoying a bit of paperwork and having good attention to detail is important too.

We treat every person who comes into our service as an individual, so being curious, adaptable and a good listener is key.


About the role


  • To engage with a range of individuals who have adopted ‘street-based living’ including rough sleepers and beggars with a view to engaging them in appropriate services and moving them into more settled lifestyles.
  • Increase service user choice, service user involvement and empower service users to maintain sustainable change; working collaboratively and proactively to ensure that services are fully co-ordinated and are working collectively towards the achievement of goals and positives outcomes for each individual client.
  • To build and develop service users’ personal strengths and social networks in the UK and/or in the individual’s country of origin.



About you


  • Have a strong understanding of substance misuse issues and experience of working within a similar field
  • The ability to work with confidence and patience with clients unwilling to engage with services and those that exhibit challenging behaviour.
  • The ability to work unsociable hours as and when required.
  • Be an excellent communicator, both verbal and written with good IT skills
  • Proactive and able to work on own initiative with excellent time management and prioritising skills
  • Have a good working knowledge of mental health interventions, services, and good practice
  • Be a supportive team player with strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in partnership with a wide range of professionals, agencies, and internal/external stakeholders
  • Ability to manage change successfully in a way that prioritises the needs of service users
  • Understand the importance of information governance processes and commit to follow and apply all necessary safeguards
  • Seek out learning opportunities to improve and broaden your professional knowledge and skills and to contribute and oversee the learning and development of others
