Senior Clinical Psychologist - Neurodevelopmental inLondon inLondon PUBLISHED 10 SEP 2024

Senior Clinical Psychologist (Band 8a or Band 7 development role)

Permanent. Part time 0.8wte (30 hours/week)

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Clinical Psychologist with relevant experience and an interest in neurodevelopmental assessment to join the Social Communication and Autism Spectrum Service within the Neurodisability Service (NDS) at Great Ormond Street Hospital on a permanent basis. Depending on experience the individual will be appointed at an 8a or a band 7. The band 7 post will be a development post.

The NDS consists of multidisciplinary teams providing assessment of children with complex neurodevelopmental profiles including social communication difficulties, early childhood epilepsy and other rare disorders. The majority of the caseload is outpatient-based with an emphasis on close liaison with local professionals to optimize ongoing support and interventions as necessary.

This post is part of the multidisciplinary second opinion and complex autism assessment service (SCASS). SCASS provides autism diagnostic assessment to children and young people aged 4-17 without identified intellectual disability.

The successful candidate will offer specialist psychological provision to the children/young people and their families in these services, including participation in multidisciplinary evaluation, diagnosis, support planning, and psycho-education. This post offers opportunities for professional development and involvement in research.

The successful candidates will join a large group of psychologists working across neurodevelopmental specialty teams within the Trust, in addition to accessing the learning and opportunities that come with being part of a wider psychology service at a leading children’s hospital.

Depending on the post holders’ current level of experience and training there will be a structured competency framework to support them to develop the skills, knowledge and confidence to fulfill their role. Timeframes are likely to depend on previous experience and competency development.

For an informal discussion about the posts, please contact Dr Miriam Bindman, Principal Clinical Psychologist: or Dr Clare Williams, Consultant Clinical Psychologist
