An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Administration Assistant to support The Lighthouse, a service supporting Children and Young People who have experience sexual abuse, that is a part of the Paediatric and Adolescent Division at University College Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

This post offers the opportunity for the postholder to enhance their understanding of NHS services, develop their administrative skills and work in a unique service that offers support to children and young people.

The postholder will be a part of the administrative team at The Lighthouse and responsible for task including booking appointments, updating patient records, dealing with enquiries with patients, parents and external services, preparation of patient correspondence, a range of reception duties and other administrative tasks as required.

The postholder will be working closely with the Administration Coordinator to support all administrative requirements, as well as the liaising with the relevant clinical teams to ensure services are delivered effectively and safely. They will report into the Assistant General Manager and provide support to the management team.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work effectively both as part of a team and independently and understand the importance of confidentiality and sensitivity necessary for the role. Prior NHS experience is desirable but not essential.

The post holder will work alongside the Administration Coordinator to lead and/or support on a range of administrative duties to support the running of The Lighthouse service.


They Will


  • Support the smooth running of The Lighthouse through effective and organised administrative management.
  • Be visible to support clinical and management teams in The Lighthouse office.
  • Provide support to the Administration Coordinator, clinical and management teams at The Lighthouse to enable the service to run effectively.
  • Greet patients and their families at the reception area, as well as assisting and updating them via telephone communication, where required.
  • Deputise, where appropriate for Administration Coordinator in their absence, supported by the Assistant General Manager.

The individual must be a good team worker and be able to contribute to the successful running of the service by providing support to the clinical and management team at The Lighthouse. They will demonstrate excellent organisational skills and will be responsible for working independently, as well as alongside colleagues.
