The Imperial Spinal Surgery Fellowship is dedicated to the advancements of the theory and practice of spinal surgery and is based at the Charing Cross and St Mary's Hospital sites. The Fellows will form part of Spinal team and be supervised by Mr Russo, Mr Kalsi, Mr Ulbricht, Mr Ibrahim, Mr Kareem, Mr Tsang, Mr Lee and Mr Eseonu.
The Spinal Unit covers a wide catchment area across northwest London providing elective, emergency, simple and complex spinal reconstruction surgery while also acting as a tertiary referral centre outside this region.
A range of spine disorders, including degenerative pathologies, spine emergencies, tumour resection, and reconstruction surgery in the cervical, thoracic, thoracolumbar and lumbar spine are treated.
The Spinal Fellow should be familiar with the basic principles of evaluation and treatment of the spinal patients. They will gain experience in the exposure of the entire spine including anterior, posterior and lateral approaches, including use of the operating microscope and minimally invasive techniques.
