We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Psychologist / Neuropsychologist to join a large Neuropsychology department at Southmead Hospital with links to the University of Bristol Neuropsychology courses.
This is fixed term opportunity until 31 March 2025 at Band 7 or 8a (depending on experience). There are 22.5-30 hours per week available depending on banding and start date (minimum commitment of 22.5 hours).
The post is primarily in the General Outpatients Neuropsychology service offering neuropsychological assessments for diagnostic and treatment purposes and brief interventions across a wide range of clinical populations, including multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, Huntington’s disease, traumatic brain injury, hydrocephalus, and epilepsy, etc.
You will join a large, friendly, supportive and welcoming Neuropsychology department comprised of 13 Clinical Neuropsychologists/Psychologists and 9 Assistant Psychologists in 5 services (General Outpatients, Neurosurgery, Cognitive Disorders, Stroke and Community Head Injury). You will have access to supervision from a Clinical Neuropsychologist on the Specialist Register of Clinical Neuropsychologists.
The post might suit someone working toward joining the Specialist Register of Clinical Neuropsychologists and looking for an opportunity to enhance their skills and range of experiences. We will also consider applications from newly qualified psychologists.

- Provide a comprehensive outpatient neuropsychology service (e.g., diagnosis, formulation, recommendations to patient, carer, or other professionals, intervention and recommendations)
- Communicate with service users, carers and other health professionals regarding the neuropsychological aspects of a person’s care via individual sessions, discussion and formal reports, as appropriate.
- Manage, plan and prioritise a clinical caseload
- Engage in individual supervision with a senior Clinical Neuropsychologist
- Engage in peer supervision via colleagues in the Neuropsychology department and obtain the required Continuous Professional Development hours
- Work with Assistant Psychologists
The postholder will be part of the Department of Neuropsychology, which is a large neuropsychology department providing an array of services within the neurosciences across a number of care pathways.
As part of a friendly, supportive and highly experienced team the postholder will be well supported in their role and have opportunities to develop their practice, complete further training and undertake service relevant research.
The department works in partnership with the University of Bristol in the delivery of Clinical Neuropsychology training and postholders will be supported to engage in further training as appropriate.
Broadly the department adopts a scientist practitioner approach to clinical practice and we strive to provide the most patient centred care possible.
