Liaise with ward staff, admin staff and other departments as and when required.



  • Ensure patient demographics are accurate on hospital information system (Meditech)
  • Using smartcard to access the National Spine to verify patient demographic details and NHS numbers when required
  • Retrieve/prepare all relevant documentation for patients who are using Pre-op service
  • Cancelling and DNA patients on electronic system and informing the appropriate teams/specialities.
  • Liaise with ward staff, admin staff and other departments as and when required
  • To deal effectively with all incoming and outgoing correspondence
  • To book interpreters as and when required.
  • To deal with telephone enquiries in a timely manner and take appropriate action.
  • To carry out general clerical duties including filing, faxing and photocopying.
  • To undertake additional duties as required within the pre-op admin team.
  • To effectively liaise with other departments internally and externally with regard to all aspects of patient care.
  • Distribute patient information documentation for parents.

The pre-op team are looking to recruit a reliable admin clerk on a permanent basis.

Hours: 22.5 hours per week

You should be organised and well-motivated with a mature approach to your work. Good oral and written communication skills are essential, and you should be able to work well within a team. Candidates would need to possess excellent organisational skills, can prioritise their workload as well as demonstrate excellent administrative skills.

Working closely with the Pre-op Nursing team and Admin Colleagues to provide reliable clerical support to the Pre-op team. A team working approach will be required.

To ensure the availability of accurate patient records and documentation as per Trust policies and procedures.

Provide a confident professional service to all patients and their parents, whilst supporting them throughout their pathway of care and ensure confidentiality and security of patient information as per Trust policy.

Adhere to Trust Policies and Procedures at all times.
