An opportunity has arisen for an administration assistant to work within the Community Nursing Teams in Dudley Group.

The admin teams provide an important and integral part of the day to day running of the nursing services, through email and telephone referral systems, and administrative support to the clinical teams who are based throughout the community, liaising with patients, carers, healthcare professionals and other representatives from health and social care organisations, across Dudley and possibly neighbouring localities.

You will be a part of small team of administrators; you will be an adaptable and confident team member, who possesses excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, be resilient and enjoy working closely with a team in a demanding environment.

Effective communication skills are vital, as is a positive patient care attitude and attention to detail. You should be able to use a PC and standard software packages including Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

You will be able to work independently and as a member of a team. An ability to organise and prioritise tasks is essential.

Subject to the needs of the service your working hours may include working Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays.


The post holder will be expected to:

  • To provide comprehensive administrative support service to the Nursing Teams, and to undertake general clerical duties including opening and distribution of mail, maintenance of filing system and photocopying.
  • To provide an efficient telephone service within the office, taking messages as required and deal with enquiries within the scope as an admin assistant. This will include obtaining relevant information to pass to colleagues to assist with patient's referrals, treatment and care.
  • Tomaintain stock levels and raise requisitions for stores items including stationary, domestic issues, nursing requirements and be responsible for checking the issues on delivery.
  • Liaising with other departments within the Trust such as other administrative staff within other Community Teams, the Acute Sector, and GP surgeries to assist with patient care.
  • To provide administration support tothe Nursing Teams including word processing, reports, meeting support, completion of forms, and all correspondence, whilst maintaining confidentiality.
