We have an exciting opportunity for a Pharmacy ATO to join our Pharmacy Department at The London Clinic, based at our main site in London (W1G 6BW). We are offering a competitive inclusive salary range of £27,143-£31,000.

Established in 1932, The London Clinic is one of the UK's largest private hospitals, with 8 state-of-the-art facilities, and circa 1350 employees where we are dedicated to providing our patients with expert, individualised treatment and care. Our main hospital spans 8 floors comprising of 150+ patient beds and 10 operating theatres, including a Hybrid theatre and two minimally invasive/day surgery theatres. Speciality areas include, General surgery; ENT; Gynaecology; Hepatobiliary; Neuro-spinal; Ophthalmic; Orthopaedic; Plastic and reconstructive; Robotic; Urology; Vascular & Weight loss surgery (bariatric surgery).


Job Profile


As part of the Pharmacy team, the Pharmacy ATO is responsible for labelling and dispensing prescription, liaising with other healthcare professionals, ward 'top ups', expiry date checking, crediting unrequired medicines and general dispensary tasks to contribute to the safe and effective running of the department.

There are two pharmacies at The London Clinic, the one at the Duchess of Devonshire Wing provides aseptic chemotherapy reconstitution service for all patient receiving chemotherapy for cancer and non-cancerous conditions. The second pharmacy, based at 20 Devonshire Place, provides medication for all non-oncology inpatients and outpatients based at The London Clinic.

  • Job Type: This is a full-time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week.
  • Shift Pattern: We operate a flexible shift pattern covering the pharmacy opening hours of 91m-7:30pm Monday - Friday. Weekend shifts are required as per rota.
  • Job Location: 20 Devonshire Place, London, W1G 6BW (Close to Regents Park/Baker St tube stations).

Key Duties


  • Answer the dispensary telephone and deal with queries from patients, carers and staff in a professional manner
  • Maintain effective stock control, including expiry date checks and appropriate storage of materials and products
  • To provide a top up service to allocated wards and departments
  • Order and top up department stationary and sundries
  • Manage day to day ordering of medicinal products and assist in the resolution of order discrepancies, identification of late and outstanding orders and return of stock to suppliers
  • To contribute proactively and constructively towards a working environment that encourages teamwork, supports excellence in service delivery, including safe, efficient and accurate dispensing services to all pharmacy users


Skills & Experience


  • Experience of working in a hospital environment is desired but not essential
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills
  • Good customer service skills, with the ability to build good relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work accurately
  • Able to demonstrate a professional approach at all times and under pressure
