To work with the cancer information & support manager, senior cancer support worker & cancer information centre support worker to support in the delivery of centre based support and cancer information & support service development, all with a focus of health promotion & self-empowerment. To consistently provide high quality information and support to patients, carers, their families and friends face to face and by telephone.
- Able to use own initiative
- Effective organisation skills
- Ability to communicate both verbally and non-verbally on a daily basis with people of all levels
- Good observation skills
- Ability to work in a team, Ability to motivate self and others
- Flexible attitude to working
- Accurate written communication of information
- Ability to show empathy and understand the difficulties faced by people affected by cancer
- Ability to prioritise own workload
- Ability to talk sensitively about information needs
- Ability to retrieve information from a wide range of sources and in different formats
