Our Respite service in Cardiff is run from two properties and provides respite to carers in the form of short terms stays for adults from the age of 18 with a learning disability, physical disability, autism, behaviours that may challenge and people experiencing mental ill health.
Alongside this, our Community Connections Service provides a range of bespoke respite services to meet individual needs as an alternative to staying at either of our respite houses, such as support at home, community based support, weekend breaks away and holidays.
We are person centred and focus on enabling people to achieve what matters to them ensuring that they maintain their wellbeing and play an active role in their local communities. Due to the nature of the service, the houses are busy and often there are last minute changes which requires flexibility from people who work there.
Through our Respite provision we aim to offer guests the chance to-
- experience a variety of social, educational and recreational activities
- build and develop friendships and connections as part of a community support network
- experience shared support and shared living
- have a meaningful break
- learn independent living skills
And for families (unpaid carers) we aim to-
- provide Carers with planned breaks
- where we can support families to deal with unexpected life events where a person may require a short break in an emergency
- involve Carers and the person they care for in the continued evaluation and development of the service
We are looking to recruit Support Workers to join our team, you will be supporting people with everyday tasks (this will include personal care, manual handling, administering medication, community activities, attending events, holidays, etc)
