The Triborough Learning Disabilities Team is an established health team providing high quality services for people with learning disabilities. Within this team psychology plays a key role in the development and delivery of these services.

We are seeking an assistant psychologist with a keen interest in working in adult learning disability services. You will demonstrate knowledge and/or experience of the context of services for individuals with learning disabilities and the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team. You will undertake work directly with service users with learning disabilities, autism and challenging behaviour, their carers, family members and other agencies and indirectly as part of a multi-disciplinary team. The person appointed will have a Psychology Degree (first class) or a Masters Degree in Psychology. Knowledge of research methodology, computer literacy, experience of data analysis, and a high level of written communication skills are required.

The service good links with the North London Doctoral Training courses in Clinical Psychology, to which it regularly provides clinical placements to doctoral trainees.

To support and enhance the professional psychological care of service users within the service, across all sectors of care. Provide psychological assessments and psychological interventions under the close supervision of a qualified professional psychologist. Work independently according to a plan agreed with a qualified psychologist and within the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures. To assist in clinically related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics, development of audit and/or research projects, teaching and project work.
