Job Overview


An exciting opportunity has become available to recruit Patient Transfer Assistants to work within the Radiology Department at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. You must be flexible in your approach as you will be required to work days, nights and weekends to meet the needs of the service.

We are looking for people who are caring and compassionate and who have strong communication and observation skills to deliver excellent patient-focused care in a challenging environment. You must have good communication skills and be able to work well as part of a team.

Main duties of the job


The post involves supporting our Radiologists, Radiographers and Assistant Practitioners in the movement of patients between the radiology department, wards, clinics and other departments, ensuring patient safety is a priority during patient transit. You will ensure an effective and comprehensive handover of patient requirements and needs takes place every time with clinical staff, providing quality patient care in all modalities of the imaging department including CT, MRI, Ultrasound and the general department.

For this role, you will be required to escort patients between the radiology departments, wards, clinics and other departments and attend to their needs during the journey. You will liaise with the ward, department and clinic staff to carry instructions and messages related to the patients’ care and ensure the relevant documents accompany the patient.
