The jobholder will have overall responsibility for the management of nursing/associated staff and the management of nursing resources/budgets within the CSU or a part of it. The jobholder will be accountable for ensuring the highest standard of clinical care is provided within the wards and departments for which they are responsible and ensure the principles of clinical governance are implemented at a local level. The jobholder will work in partnership with the facilities department in ensuring high standards of hospital cleanliness is maintained, embracing the principles outlined in the Matrons charter.
The jobholder will be easily identifiable to patients, provide strong leadership through a visible presence and provide support, advice and assistance required by patients, their families and carers. The jobholder will also support the implementation of the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS), being a focal point for advice to patients and carers and local resolution of complaints.

Current services comprise wards and departments across gynaecology, GOPD, Specialist gynaecology services on the SJUH.
The jobholder has through Senior Sisters/Charge Nurses direct management of 60.74 wte gynaecology nursing and support staff. The jobholder has direct line management of the specialist nurses within the CSU or a part of it. The jobholder is responsible for the management of nursing resources and ward and department budgets.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a dynamic & committed Gynaecology Matron to the Womens CSU senior nursing and midwifery team.
The service comprises of a gynaecology assessment and treatment unit, early pregnancy services, urogynaecology, colposcopy, hysteroscopy, and gynaecology outpatients.
Ideally we are looking for a nurse with experience in womens health, who can demonstrate the desire and ability to provide strong and visible clinical and managerial leadership.
Full-time and part-time hours considered
Proven current management and leadership experience within an acute hospital setting with an ability to implement effective change is a requirement of the post, along with sound interpersonal, negotiation and decision making skills and a passion to promote the highest standards of safe, patient centered care.
As post holder you will:
- oversee the standard of care delivery within specified areas of the CSU and develop strategies to address issues as they arise.
- ensure the safe, efficient and effective delivery of care.
- be responsible for ensuring that clinical standards are delivered in line with national, regional and local policies.
- ensure that policies and guidelines are implemented and evaluated within the specialties.
- adhere to the NMCs professional regulations and ensure that nursing staff practice within the regulatory framework.
