Applications are invited for vacancies at Senior Locally Employed Doctor level in the department of General Paediatrics at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital Managed Clinical Service. This is a fixed term 2-year rotational post via the Manchester International Fellowship Training Scheme and is ideal for those wishing to gain UK experience at middle grade (Tier 2) level or as a preparations for MRCPCH exams.

Successful candidates will gain specialist paediatric experience within one of the largest children's hospitals in the UK, with additional responsibility for provision of out of hour's cover. As well as giving advice on referrals, you will also attend ward rounds, be responsible for ward-based clinical duties and attend out-patient clinics.

Successful applicants could be placed at one of our three acute paediatric sites:

  • RMCH - paediatrics only
  • North Manchester - paediatrics and neonates
  • Wythenshawe - paediatrics and neonates

Interviews will be heldvia MS Teams

All candidates should be expected to commence in post by no later than early June 2025 and will need to attend a bespoke induction for all MIFTS recruits.

We can offer different working patterns depending on the skills and experience of successful candidates. All middle grade posts involve an element of out of hours resident on call duties covering admissions and ward patients. Examples of the possible rota schedules are attached to this advert. Senior Locally Employed Doctors are responsible for immediate supervision of the ST1-2 when on call or at the weekends. Daily ward rounds are led by the hot week Consultant

All referrals regarding Child Protection are seen by middle grade doctors/ Consultants. The ST4+ also has regular OP clinic commitments and administrative duties as well as role in medical student education.

As RMCH is a specialist children's hospital, there may also be the opportunity for successful candidates to be based in one of our tertiary medical specialties.
