Job overview
- The post holder will be responsible for participating and assisting in the delivery of assessment and treatment services to service users and carers referred to the Haringey Memory Service (HMS),working under the direct or indirect supervision of a registered member of staff.
- They will be responsible for administering components of the assessment and monitoring process for service users and carers that are identified as part of the service users and/or carers care plan and/or service care pathway.
- The post holder will assist with post diagnostic interventions on an individual and/or group basis. The post holder will carry out clinically related practical and a

3. To be conversant with mental health issues in later life, including dementia and the preferred treatment options.
4. Have an awareness, knowledge and understanding of the importance of psychological, social, physical and spiritual needs of older service users and carers.

- HMS is located on the St Ann's Hospital site. Offering services in community locations may be a future development and the post holder may be required to work and travel across a geographical area and/or across related services.

- The post holder will receive monthly management and clinical supervision. They will be encouraged and supported to partake in reflective practice and further training as agreed in supervision and at their annual appraisal.

2. Act in ordnance with the direction of an appropriate practitioner (i.e nurse, doctor or pharmacist) to administer medication as and when required following competency assessment and supervision.

4. Have informed knowledge and understanding of the mental health act 1983 amended 20in particular part 3 of the act and other legislations such as safe guarding children, adults, DOLS, Mental Capacity Act 2005 and other realting to care of service users in the community
5. To undertake and assist in the organisation of the day to day smooth running of HMS
6. Contribute towards the ongoing quality of service and care identity any risk issues in relation to the patients/ clients health and social care.

Essential criteria
- Diploma in Mental Health Practice or Degree in Psychology NVQ level 3 in Mental Health with post qualification evidence of further study / additional training to diploma level or NVQ 4 in Mental Health or equivalent level experience. or Evidence of extensive and current paid experience of working with service users who have severe and or enduring mental health issues or Dementia.
- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent (with a minimum of 5 A -C qualifications - which must include Maths and English)
Desirable criteria
- Level 1 Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults certificates
- Level 2 Safeguarding Children certificate
Experience
Essential criteria
- Demonstrable experience of caring for older people with Dementia in an in-patient or community care setting
- Previous experience of working in a Health or Social Care setting in a paid or voluntary position
- To be knowledgeable about factors that cause dementia, the progress of the illness and the services available.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the Mental Capacity legislation and its application/use in relation to people with Dementia.
- Demonstrate a sound knowledge and understanding of the needs and difficulties of people with dementia.
- Demonstrate an understanding of Advance Care Planning and the need to reduce inappropriate unplanned hospital admissions
