This is an exciting opportunity to join the National and Specialist CAMHS OCD, BDD and Related Disorders Service. They are seeking to recruit a full-time Band 4 Assistant Psychologist (fixed term until 31 March 2025) The post holder is required to work 3 to 4 days onsite and remotely for 1 day depending on service needs. This service is nationally and internationally renowned in the field of paediatric OCD, BDD and related disorders and is at the forefront of research and clinical practice developments.

The service provides specialist assessment and treatment for children with OCD, BDD, and related disorders. The post-holder will work closely with senior and experienced Clinical Psychologists on the team, a part-time Consultant Psychiatrist, as well as trainees from a variety of disciplines. There is an emphasis on Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. Research is strongly supported as part of the multi-disciplinary team approach.


Responsibilities


We are looking to appoint individuals with excellent organisation and communication skills and a keen eye for detail. The post-holders’ duties will be varied, including administrative, clinical and research responsibilities. The key areas of responsibilities are:

  • Data collection, input and database management for clinical and research purposes.
  • Participation in specialist clinical assessments and in treatment planning.
  • Supporting clinical work with families and young people, working jointly with and receiving supervision from a clinical psychologist.
  • Ensuring treatment and assessment protocols are maintained.

The posts are based at the Michael Rutter Centre for Children and Young People, on the Maudsley Hospital site. Our Trust headquarters is located at Denmark Hill less than 5 minutes from the train station (zone 2) and is within walking distance from the beautiful green spaces of Ruskin Park and the vibrant high-street that offers great shopping opportunities and with a wide range of restaurants. Currently the team are doing a mix of working on site and from home. We provide services nationally as well as to our local SLaM boroughs of Croydon, Lambeth, Lewisham, and Southwark, and the post-holder would be expected to be involved in home-based assessment where clinically indicated.
