Job Purpose
The post holder will work with and support the Senior Charge Nurse to provide professional, clinical, educational and managerial responsibility for the nursing service on a 24-hour basis within the unit and has responsibility for both clinical and staff governance issues. As part of the multidisciplinary team, the post holder will have responsibility for the assessment of care needs, evaluation of care plans, ensuring the delivery of optimal quality care to patients.
The post holder works with the ward manager to maintain clinical and staff governance and deputises in the absence of ward manager.
The post holder is expected to motivate staff to provide optimal standards of care by acting as a role model.
This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/ record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.
