A band 6 full time (37.5 hours/ week, 1.0 WTE) fixed term (12 month) vacancy has arisen within the dietetic department at the Royal London Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity which will offer the right applicant a rewarding experience in the provision of nutrition support for surgical patients. We are looking for an individual who is enthusiastic and motivated to aid developing the service.

The Adult surgical service at the Royal London is renowned for its expert knowledge and experience and has an outstanding team of clinicians. The workload consists of cover to both the emergency and elective care surgical wards. The successful candidate will provide complex nutrition support within various surgical areas - general surgery, Vascular, Colorectal and Hepatobiliary and Upper Gastrointestinal. You will be clinically supervised and supported by the Senior Specialist Band 7 Dietitian and work closely within the wider Surgery and Nutrition Team MDT.

As a department we are committed to continuing professional development and you will be supported to undertake research and audit on a regular basis to ensure that practice is evidence based. We undertake the training of Dietetic students for all placement types and offer opportunities to be involved in teaching/ training of the wider MDT.


Effective Working In This Role Requires The Ability


  • To be responsible for the allocated caseload of mixed general, GI and vascular surgery wards and provide cover to other clinical areas as required.
  • To ensure that research and audit is undertaken on a regular basis to ensure that practice is evidence based.
