- intravenous cannulation
- performing ECG point of care testing: blood glucose/ ketones, urine, pregnancy
- Performing neurological observations (Glasgow Coma Score)
- Performing Paediatric observations
- Performing lying and standing Blood Pressure
- Minor injuries treatments
- Plaster cast training (Basic and advanced)
Evidence
- Evidence of accurate documentation/ record keeping skills within scope of CSW role, including completion of contact rounds
- Falls risk assessment, escalation and actions to reduce risk.
- Skin assessment and purpose T screen, hospital bed/air mattress requesting when required
- up to date mandatory training on Learning La
Knowledge
Understands And Able To Describe / Demonstrate
- Completion of care certificate
- The scope and constraints of the CSW role and differences between band 2/3
- Role requirements when allocated to each area of the department : Resus room, RIAT, waiting room RIAT, cubicles
- NEWS recording on patient track, requirement for regular observations and how and when to escalate concerns ( unwell patients, sepsis screens, low blood glucose levels)
- patient hydration and nutrition needs and recording
- Understanding The flow coordinator role and key aspects of role
