We have an exciting opportunity for an innovative and enthusiastic Assistant Psychologist to join our developing Maternal Mental Health Service working across Surrey. The AFLoaT: Addressing Fear, Loss and Trauma related to the maternity experience team offer a range of therapeutic modalities.

Our service aims to meet the ambition of the NHS Long Term Plan by and making it easier for women and birthing people to access psychological support when experiencing mental health difficulties arising from or related to their maternity experience. This role would be suitable for anyone passionate about supporting women and birthing people with mental health difficulties related to fear of childbirth, birth trauma, pregnancy loss, stillbirth, and neonatal death. You would be joining a small team focussed on the provision of psychological therapies to women and birthing people with these experiences.

As part of the AFLoaT Team, you will have access to specialist supervision and have excellent training opportunities. Staff well-being and development are at the heart of our ambitions. We have an active CPD program across the Trust in relation to both clinical and leadership development, as well as a staff resilience hub supporting individuals and teams.


Role


This part-time role will support and enhance the professional psychological care of people who use services by providing psychological assessment and psychological interventions, under the supervision of a qualified clinical psychologist working within the service, and by working independently according to a plan agreed with the team leader and the supervising psychologist. The role may include clinically related administration, conduction of audits, collection of outcome statistics, and/or other project work as appropriate and agreed with the team leader and supervising psychologist. On a day-to-day basis the post holder may be expected to:

  • Supervised assessments and/or shadowing
  • Low level interventions
  • Audit and admin
  • Assisting with the running of group interventions
  • Follow ups
  • Delivering training and undertaking research
