Band 4: £26,530 to £29,114 a year Per Annum pro rata  PERMANENT 
Required to access roof voids, plant spaces and undertake tasks with space restriction.

  • To undertake planned and reactive maintenance, small improvement work and minor Capital schemes as directed.
  • To be responsible for tools, plant and materials which are used within the scope of the Estates Department.
  • To ensure that safety procedures are observed in the use of Plant Equipment, Materials, working procedures and ensure that a safe working environment is always maintained in accordance with Health & Safety regulations.
  • To assist with the training of new staff as directed.
  • To work outside his/her trade in the event of any emergency or as directed by the Estates Officer/Head of Estates/On Call Manager.
  • To assist with the ordering of materials for all types of maintenance work.
  • Respond to instruction given via the Estates maintenance reporting system to investigate faults and failures. Complete any paperwork required to record time and materials used. Feedback to Estates supervision on any further action required for the work to be fully completed.
  • To take part in any emergency on-call rota.
  • To be able to drive and hold a clean current driving licence.
  • Any other duties as delegated by the Estates Officer/Head of Estates relevant to the post/department.
  • To participate in appropriate training as required by this position and determined by the Estates Management Staff.

  • To accurately use highly developed physical skills in the use of fine tools, materials and equipment.
  • Frequently required to exert moderate physical effort for short periods (up to 20 minutes) within each shift.

  • Taking account of H & S and current legislation undertake fault diagnosis, interprets technical information, formulates technical solutions to improve equipment performance and to analyse suitability of equipment together with interpret operational manuals.

  • To be able to prioritize own work load and manage their responsibilities appropriately.


Additional Key Result Areas

  • To negotiate with departments for access to allow repairs to be undertaken explaining technical issues to non technical staff.
  • Ability to take on new learning relevant to new assets and equipment as part of the upgrade replacement and capital programme.
  • To assist Estates supervisor in the maintenance of stock and supplies for the Estates Department.
  • To be able to prioritise urgent and non-urgent repairs using knowledge of electrical, mechanical and building systems.
  • To take part in governance training as and when required.
  • To work outside his/her trade in the event of an emergency or as directed by the Estates Officer/Head of Estates
  • To be able to drive and hold a clean driving license
  • To take part in an emergency on-call rota
  • To undertake additional training to achieve CP rating of agreed disciplines to achieve Mreps payments and maintain the level of training. (Module Related Enhanced Payment Scheme). The

    MREP scheme comprises of 5 modules.

    Each module has a monetary value of £800 and the maximum sum which can be earned through these modules is £3,200.
  • Any other duties as delegated by the Estates Officer relevant to the post/department.
  • To participate in appropriate training as required by this position and determined by the Estates Management Staff.

  • Working can also involve the use of powered tools and equipment including vibratory.
  • Working environment could involve working in confined spaces, at height and a noisy environment.

Support a multi-disciplined workforce and resource undertaking work associated with all engineering plant, building fabric and equipment to the estate within the Trust's Establishments.

Follow departmental and Trusts operating policies and procedures guided by building and H & S regulations when undertaking this role and works closely with the Estates supervisor, but capable of working independently without regular supervision.
