We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic Band 3 Therapy Assistant to join our innovative and award winning Inpatient Paediatric & Teenage therapy team. Ideal candidates will be hard working and flexible with excellent communication and organisational skills. Previous experience of working with children and young people or within a therapy service is desired but not essential. We are seeking individuals who are willing to learn and positively contribute to the service.

A successful candidate will work with qualified Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists to deliver therapy programmes to children and young people admitted to hospital, the majority will be undergoing cancer treatment. Therapy Assistants also provide essential non-clinical and administrative support to the team.

Cancer care is one of the top three strategic priorities for UCLH. As a unified cancer centre together with Great Ormond Street Hospital, UCLH collectively form the largest paediatric & adolescent oncology centre in Europe & our Teenage Cancer Trust inpatient ward is the UK’s first & largest TCT unit.

The team is friendly, supportive and welcoming and an excellent place to develop clinical and non-clinical skills.

  • The post holder will provide both clinical and administrative support to the therapy staff within the team
  • The post holder will show initiative, motivation and excellent organisational ability working closely with therapy staff to develop administrative support and systems for the therapy team
  • The post-holder is flexible and innovative in their approach to work and provides cover for other Therapy assistants and instructors across the service in periods of leave or absences
  • The post-holder will be expected, after appropriate training, to perform manual handling tasks
  • They will be required to demonstrate time management & prioritisation skills
  • They will be required to work with their team on service development and quality assurance projects
  • The post holder may be asked to rotate between roles within cancer therapies.
  • To participate in 7-day services rota where appropriate.
