Responsibilities of the role will include :

To facilitate efficient, safe, high quality care and support for patients participating in research.

To provide professional and clinical leadership to the research teams, promoting a culture that supports patient centred care

To be actively involved in the development and implementation of Trust policies and procedures at department level and reinforce their use

  • The post holder will support the aims of the Trust and the NIHR clinical research network to improve the speed, quality, and integration of clinical research, through the successful delivery of clinical research within the specialty of Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) in the NHS.
  • The post holder will be a recognised expert in IBD research and in the field of clinical research, providing advice, care and support to patients entering clinical trials. He/she will take responsibility for the planning, development and implementation of the clinical research portfolio that reflects the patient population, the work and interests of the local clinical teams. The main focus of the role will be to take a leading role in the management of care pathways for patients and carers participating in research,

Duties will also include;

The main focus of the role will be to take a leading role in the management of care pathways for IBD patients and carers participating in research, ensuring that the needs of the patient are placed at the centre of care delivery. You will provide expert support to colleagues through the research study process, from grant application, to feasibility, to clinical pathways, to study delivery. You will work collaboratively with the research teams and the wider multidisciplinary team and act as a professional role model, providing clinical care and teaching to staff researchers, research participants and patients.

You will lead on the development and updating of local policies and procedures and contribute to the development of national policies.

The post holder will ensure that any research undertaken safeguards the well-being of research participants and is conducted to ICH Good Clinical Practice.
