This is afull time post providing Registrar level cover for the department.
The successful applicant will be expected to carry out all duties of a Paediatric Infectious Diseases (PID) Registrar, participating in all the activities of the PID Unit.
Main duties of the jobSt George's Hospital provides the in-patient service for PID with a dedicated ward, Pinckney ward as well as any other inpatient in Paediatrics with any infectious or immunological concern. The PID unit also provides a general PID clinic as well as specialised clinics in HIV, TB, congenital infections, immunodeficiencies and vaccinology and fungal infections. There is an extensive outreach PID support to all District General Hospitals within South West London as well as within Surrey as a consult advice service. There is also a strong antimicrobial stewardship service and pOPAT (Paediatric Outpatient Parenteral Antimicobial Therapy) provision. The PID unit works closely with the Microbiology team, with dedicated MDTs with them, as well as with the Paediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care Units, Radiology and colleagues with Evelina London Childrens Hospital. The PID fellow will participate in all the above activities. The PID unit has also a strong governance and research foundations and encourages our PID fellows to participate in audits, service improvement projects and to strength their research profile as we have a link with the Centre for Neonatal and Paediatric Infection (CNPI) at St. George's University of London (SGUL).
