Job Purpose


The Assistant Care Team Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the counselling facility, with a focus on providing high-quality care and support to clients. They will co-ordinate, develop and deliver a holistic range of support activities for people accessing services, intervention/prevention initiatives.

The post holder will be responsible to the Senior Care Team Manager, as well as supporting the development and governance of the Organisation, providing assurance through the Chief Executive to the Board. The successful candidate will oversee the paid and volunteer counsellors respectively. They will support the Senior Care Team Care Manager and will be responsible for ensuring that all counsellors are appropriately trained and supported, and that the counselling service is running efficiently and effectively.

He/she will provide clear leadership to all staff within their area of responsibility and will be responsible for effective financial management and the efficient use of all resources.


Essential Requirements


  • Level 4 Diploma or above in a counselling related discipline
  • Accreditation, or eligible for and working towards accreditation with UKCP,BACP , IACP, NCS orequivalent professional body
  • A minimum of 200 supervised hours post qualification work experience gained within the last 5 years
  • A minimum of 2 years’ management experience gained within the last 5 years, with direct line management responsibility for 5 or more people.
  • Ability to co-design, plan, develop and maintain safe, complex services to meet the needs of clients.
  • A deep understanding of counselling best practices and ethical guidelines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations, including data protection, health and safety, and employment law.
  • Experience working in a counselling facility, with a track record of delivering high-quality care and support to clients.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills coupled with analytical ability.
  • Proficient in the use of digital resources and electronic record keeping.
  • Ability to influence others to maximise performance and to demonstrate collective leadership.
