Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Sunday,

7.00am-8.00pm, including Bank Holidays

This is a great opportunity to join our Guest Services Team as a Ward Host. As a Ward Host you will be responsible for providing an excellent level of customer service and care to our patients at all times. You will provide menus and take orders from patients and assist with dietary and allergen queries. Working closely with ward and catering staff you will also be responsible for preparing and delivering patient meals and beverages ensuring food hygiene standards are met.

This role is ideal for someone who has worked as a waiter/waitress in a hospitality or healthcare environment. A food hygiene qualification is desirable but not essential.


Role Responsibilities Include


  • Ensure that all food and drink orders are taken, prepared and served to the agreed standard.
  • Menus for each service are organised and that guests/patients are served according to their requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation and presentation of food, ready to be taken to patient bedsides.
  • Temperature check foods and record prior to serving patients ensuring that all food served is done safely.
  • To contribute as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, sharing an understanding of others and skills and priorities.
  • To undertake any other duties commensurate with the grade required by the Supervisor or Catering Manager for the efficient running of the Catering Department.


Person Specification


  • Have a desire and passion for customer service
  • Possess excellent communication skills with high standards of hygiene and presentation
  • Ideally have experience working within the food service industry
  • Ideally have a food hygiene qualification/knowledge
  • Be able to work as part of a team.
