Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board is part of the NHS Wales family.
We are looking for a friendly, approachable individual to work as a ward clerk on Ward 4 POWH, you will work as one of two ward clerks providing 7 day a week cover on the ward including weekends and some bank holidays.

We aim to provide a high standard of care within our ward and are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, motivated and has a friendly manner and strong work ethic to join our team.

Good organisational and communication skills are essential as well as a flexible approach to work. The successful candidate will require a good general education and ideally have previous ward clerk experience within the NHS. Knowledge of NHS IT systems is desirable although not essential as full training will be given.

The successful candidate will be required to work in a busy environment and have a sensitive, caring and non-judgemental attitude to others.

  • Undertake general clerical duties and organise own day to day workload
  • Receive/welcome new patients to the ward, obtaining/checking records and ensuring notes are in order.
  • Compiling sets of blank notes for emergency admission patients.
  • Answering the telephone and liaising with nursing staff if required in order to respond to any queries as appropriate.
  • Ensure ward IT systems are up to date with admissions and discharges.
  • Make outpatient follow up referrals as requested by nursing staff.
  • Ensure records are correctly compiled and completed prior to being sent from the ward following patient discharge.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
