We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Physiotherapy Assistant to join our busy Physiotherapy team. You will support the physiotherapy team with assessment and treatment of a varied patient caseload in the musculoskeletal (MSK) department.

With appropriate supervision you will be responsible for running a variety of exercise classes, supporting hydrotherapy sessions and delivering prescribed individualised rehabilitation programmes on a 1:1 basis. There will also be an opportunity to run a walking aid clinic after suitable training has been completed.

You will have adminstative responsibilies with our hydrotherapy service. Additionally you will be responsible for maintaining the general running of the department including stock taking and maintaining stock of patient information booklets.

Under the supervision of a registered physiotherapist, the post holder will be expected to assist the physiotherapists in the screening, and treatment of patients who have diverse presentations and varying physical and psychological conditions.

To carry out an extended assistant’s role in identified areas, having completed training and successful competency testing.

To work with supervision. Supervision takes the form of regular instruction, guidance, training and support. Access to advice and support from a physiotherapist is available whenever required. Work is routinely evaluated.

To be responsible for allocating appointments to patients for rehabilitation classes and participating in the running of these classes e.g. hydrotherapy . To be responsible for maintaining supplies of exercise sheets and patient information booklets in the outpatient department. After appropriate teaching and supervision you will be expected to manage the departments weekly walking aid clinic.

To assist in departmental duties as directed.
