WHAT YOULL DO
You will provide a specialist clinical pharmacy service to paediatric and neonatal patients on a rotational basis. You will be expected to work closely with technical services and dispensary teams providing clinical expertise and guidance for individual patients.
This post includes: Attending consultant ward rounds. Developing evidence-based treatment guidelines in conjunction with consultants, nurse specialists and pharmacists. Supporting the neonatal and paediatric nutrition teams. Teaching medical students and members of the multidisciplinary team. Acting as a role model for junior/newly qualified pharmacists Supporting homecare. Audit and research opportunities.
WHAT WERE LOOKING FOR
You must be enthusiastic and committed to team working with good communication skills and a commitment to lifelong learning. Previous experience in paediatric pharmacy is desirable but is not essential. The ability to complete objectives within the set time frame is important. We are able to provide training and staff development as experienced paediatric pharmacists will support you in this role.
This role is available as a development role starting at a band 6 with a clear progression pathway using the RPS framework to enable you to advance to a band 7.

Come and join the Children's Pharmacy team. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated pharmacist to join the clinical pharmacy team at Southampton Children's Hospital. It is a rotational post within both children's and neonatal services, to complete a team of three rotational pharmacists working with the support of senior paediatric pharmacists.
The Children's Pharmacy team is well established, developing services within both general and specialist multidisciplinary teams providing direct high quality patient care. The team is forward thinking and supportive, working together to improve the services we offer to patients.
Southampton Children's Hospital is part of University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust - one of the largest teaching trusts in the country. We are a major centre for specialist children's services in the south of England, providing care not only to our local population in Southampton but for a much larger regional area, including the Isle of Wight and the Channel Islands.
