Assisting and supporting confused patients and helping to re orientate them.
The post is for a Health Care Assistant who will work under the delegation and supervision of the registered nurse within critical care and you will also carry out tasks involving direct care of the patient and reporting the outcome of that to the registered nurse. The role will also involve some housekeeping duties, maintaining a clean environment within critical care and supporting the relatives.

The job involves working in an acute setting and being part of the critical care team who look after very unwell patients.

Assist registered nurse with admitting and discharging of patients including correct documentation for property. To clean the bed spaces and prepare for the next admission.

Participate in Patient handling manoeuvres and procedures under the direction of a registered nurse. For example moving a patient in bed or assisting a patient from bed to chair.

Assist patients with all personal hygiene maintaining their dignity at all times. Ensure that their pressure areas are intact and that you help with maintaining this.

Assist patients with elimination including stoma and catheter care, emptying catheter bags and recording amounts if necessary, reporting any abnormalities to the nurse in charge.

Assisting patients and nursing staff in the provision of dietary requirements to assist with feeding as required.

Assist caring for dying patients and their relatives with the supervision of the registered nurse and assist with last offices.
