Clinical Practitioner Prescriber inLymington inLymington PUBLISHED 4 DEC 2023

 PERMANENT

The successful applicant should be a registered nurse or paramedic with a good background of emergency care and autonomous practice/prescribing in primary care. The role will allow an expansion of your training portfolio and scope of practice to include minor injury presentations such as suturing, plastering, and reduction of dislocations etc.. For this we will commit to support the successful candidate/s with suitable minor injury courses, immediate life support courses, x-ray interpretation course, and mentoring/competency completion. Because we recognise that full-time hours may not allow the degree of flexibility to continue working in primary care, so we welcome candidates looking for part-time hours, as well those looking for full time hours. There is also the additional option to work in out-of-hours as part of our Extended Access service seeing primary care patients.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Assess undifferentiated patients with a range of acute, non-acute and chronic medical conditions (may have some restrictions on competence such as seeing babies).
    • Take history, make appropriate physical examinations, formulate differential diagnoses and formulate/manage treatment plans when working in any clinical environment.
    • Refer and facilitate patient pathways through appropriate referrals to primary, community, secondary and tertiary care for patients when necessary
    • Request investigations and be able to interpret radiology results.
    • Prescribe medication as required within your clinical competence.
    • Recognise the need and initiate emergency treatment to save life or to safeguard the interests of the patient and refer to emergency services when appropriate.
    • Recognise any social needs, safeguarding concerns and act appropriately to safeguard the patient. To ensure that patients are safely discharged from our care with appropriate instructions for after care and follow up.
    • To take an active role within the cross-disciplinary, multi-skilled team to ensure service quality in line with corporate goals and strategies and provide mentorship and support to junior staff when required.
    • Take a person-centred approach to service delivery, based on clear understanding and experience of the modes for service delivery.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated, and competent clinician to become part of our friendly team at the Lymington Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) in the New Forest, Hampshire. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced primary care practitioner (nurse or paramedic) to expand their scope of practice to include minor injury presentations and gain experience in urgent care.

PHL Group aims to assist suitable candidates with their transition into a career in the thriving and fast-paced private healthcare industry.
We are looking for a talented individual to join us on permanent basis. The position holder will be given a 4 week rolling rota and we can offer between 22.5-36 hours per week.
