It is a very exciting time in the world of paediatric asthma, with national improvements from NHS England in the form of the National Bundle of Care for Children and Young People with Asthma.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 Paediatric Asthma Specialist Nurse to join the Child Health department at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust for a 6 month maternity cover.

We are looking for an efficient, well-motivated and enthusiastic nurse to help lead and continue to develop the Paediatric Asthma Service. The Paediatric Asthma Specialist Nurse will provide specialist nursing advice and support to children and young people with asthma and their families.

The successful candidate will be a registered nurse (Child) with relevant clinical experience in paediatric asthma and a commitment to continued professional development in this speciality.

This is a varied role that will see the post holder working with patients in the inpatient, outpatient and community settings. The post holder will work independently, running nurse-led asthma clinics, with support and supervision from the paediatric consultants.

It is a very exciting time in the world of paediatric asthma, with national improvements from NHS England in the form of the National Bundle of Care for Children and Young People with Asthma. The post holder will be aware of the national standards set by the bundle and engage in implementing these, where appropriate, in the trust. This offers an opportunity for the successful candidate to be at the forefront of service development and improvement.

The post holder will work alongside the specialist nurses for Allergy and CF, providing, where appropriate, cross cover and support to these services and vice versa. This will allow for peer supervision and team working
