We are looking for an experienced children's nurse to work in our Band 6 team on Woodlands ward. You will provide professional, clinical and managerial leadership to nursing staff within the ward alongside a team of Band 6's.

Woodlands ward is a 16 bedded paediatric unit with Clinical assessment area which treats infants, children and adolescents ranging in age from 1 day to 16 years old. We provide services in general paediatrics, ENT (ear, nose and throat) surgery, orthopaedic care and surgery, general surgery, maxillo-facial and dental surgery, and urology.

We are looking for a candidate with strong, professional leadership qualities which are needed at this level, these are critical to the quality of care, staff morale, and the learning environment. The post holder must be an NMC registered children's nurse and have the mentorship in practice qualification or equivalent.

We are looking for a candidate who is a motivated and passionate individual who wants to lead a team to provide exceptional nursing care to a range of children and their families.

  • You will provide exceptional nursing care, undertake staff appraisals, attendance management and other operational management and clinical duties.
  • You will work alongside the current Ward Sisters and support the Ward Manager to ensure we maintain the highest standards of care at all times.
  • The successful candidate will; in liaison with the Ward Manager and other sisters / charge nurses, be responsible for leading and co-ordinating a dedicated team of nursing and support staff to ensure the highest standards or care for patients on the ward to incorporate the 6 C's.
  • You will contribute to managing the nursing and material resources of the ward in a flexible and cost effective way.
  • The post holder will adhere to NMC Code of Practice at all times and ensure ward compliance with and application of hospital policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the development, implementation and monitoring of Governance systems in the ward/department relating to Risk Management, Health and Safety and Controls Assurance.
