What might it look like to work here?
Stand by, we'll show you...
PICU is a large 17 bedded unit, caring for critically ill children and their families. We have a large, friendly and dynamic team of nurses, physiotherapists, doctors and other members of multi disciplinary team, and work together to provide a high standard of care.
We are looking to add to our experienced housekeeping team, to enable a seven day service from the housekeeping team.
Applicants should be enthusiastic, able to use their initiative, and able to respond quickly and effectively to the fast moving pace of intensive care.
Prior experience of working in this environment would be an advantage, but not essential, as you will be given full training, and have a period of induction, working alongside our existing team.
You will support the nursing team in ensuring high quality care is provided for our patients and their families by ensuring the ward environment, and associated areas are clean, tidy, and that there is a plentiful supply of consumables available at the bedside at all times.
You will support the smooth flow of patients through the ICU by assisting with transfer of patients to the ward and assisting with clearing bedspaces ready for cleaning.
You will be required to work collaboratively with housekeeping staff across all 3 ICU’s (PICU, CICU and NICU)
Please see the job description and person spec for full details of the role and your responsibilities.
While this is a full time post, we would consider part time hours, provided they fit with the service provision.
We can also consider flexible work times, provided they fit with current service provision.
GOSH is committed to recruiting the best person for the job, based solely on their ability and individual merit as measured against the criteria for the role; through a process that is fair, open, consistent and free from bias and discrimination.
We are committed to being a diverse and inclusive employer and foster a culture where all staff are valued, respected and acknowledged. All applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, colour, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, age, disability status or length of time spent unemployed.
We particularly welcome applications from BAME communities, people with disabilities and/or long-term health conditions and LGBT+ community members.
We have policies and procedures in place to ensure that all applicants and employees are treated fairly and consistently. We are proud to be accredited as a Disability Confident Employer, a member of Business Disability Forum and a Stonewall Diversity Champion.
We have active and Executive supported BAME, LGBT+ and Allies, Disability and Long-Term Health Conditions and Women’s staff networks. Staff networks are employee-led groups formed around interests, issues and a common bond or background. Staff network members create a positive and inclusive work environment at Great Ormond Street Hospital by actively contributing to the Trust’s mission, values and efforts specific to inclusion. All of our staff networks are open to any employee.
