We are now offering a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic Band 3 Senior Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our friendly and dedicated Histopathology team at Charing Cross.
If you have an in interest in laboratory work, this is an ideal opportunity for you to take on a supporting role in our busy Histopathology team. You will become part of a team of specialist Health Care Scientists providing both routine and specialised diagnostic services to patients within the Hospital and external users.
Duties will include carrying out sample reception, triage, assistance to the dissection team, equipment maintenance and general clerical duties including data entry on the LIMS.Experience of laboratory work or the NHS would be an advantage.
NWLP is based on a 'hub and spoke' structure; the majority of routine, specialist and non-urgent activity is centralised at our hub site at Charing Cross Hospital. Urgent tests required for immediate patient management and treatment are performed in 24/7 Essential Service Laboratories based on-site within the seven hospital sites in the group.

We are looking for a candidate who is competent and versatile individual with excellent team working and communication skills and must be able to work with accuracy at all times.
The candidate will be an efficient and flexible member of the Reception team providing a high quality diagnostic service through supporting the scientific and technical activities of the laboratory.The role is to perform support duties to the Laboratory and the dissection team and to carry out and to undertake specimen reception duties. Staff in this grade are not HCPC Registered and must be supervised and take direction from appropriately qualified HCPC registered staff.
To undertake general Specimen Receptin duties including the receipt, sorting, organisation and data entry for pathological specimens submitted to the Cellular Pathology department for investigation.
To work within the written policies and procedures especially in relation to Health and Safety and Quality
