Job summaryIrwell Unit - North and South ward are recruiting now!
We are currently recruiting for our male and female inpatient wards (single sex). We are currently seeking to recruit band 5 staff nurses on a permanent contract to complement the staffing team that is already in place. You will be part of a thriving ward which is committed to providing a high level of quality care to the patients they work with.
South ward is a 22 bedded male acute ward based in Bury at Fairfield General Hospital. Within the team on South ward, we have a range of nursing experience working with us from senior nurses, staff nurses, and Healthcare Support Workers. We have an inpatient Consultant Psychiatrist who is dedicated to only South ward and they are supported by a staff grade, GP trainee and Foundation Year Doctor. We also have a Psychologist that covers both our inpatient wards and they are very keen to be involved in patient Psychosocial work and trauma informed care. We currently have 2 Occupational Therapists who cover our wards to support patients in their progress from hospital to the home environment.
Main duties of the jobYou will be involved in provide a high level of safe and effective care. Be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care, adhere to all Trust policies, procedures and guidelines, and liaise with the multidisciplinary team Provide mentorship to others
About usWe are very keen to develop Quality Improvement within our inpatient services. We have recently completed a QI project with the Royal College of Psychiatry around Sexual Safety and were very successful in implementing changes to our wards to ensure that sexual safety was maintained for our staff and patients. We are currently finalising a QI project to reduce violence and aggression and looking forward to finalising this project very soon, we also restrictive practice lead who work with our inpatient staff to ensure that the least restrictive option is always explored and educating the team and patient around restrictive practice.
