You will receive, assist and direct patients and visitors in a courteous and positive manner.

Receive, welcome and assist patients and visitors

Communicate effectively with patients, staff, visitors and other agencies both face to face and via telephone.

Make appointments and operate the appointments systems accurately

Ensure the appointment system is run efficiently by monitoring the flow of patients to and from the consulting room and updating patients if clinicians are running behind schedule.

Understand the booking of routine and urgent appointments.

Process and distribute incoming and outgoing mail

Accept registration forms from prospective patients ensuring adherence to practice policies

Explain Practice arrangements to newly registering patients

Update accurately patients records to reflect changes of address etc.

Manage the practices mailboxes (internal and external)

Process and record information in accordance with Practice protocols

Provide administrative assistance as required

Handle specimens as per practice protocol

Receive and open deliveries

Order Stationery

Keep reception area clean and tidy

Maintain waiting room information and design campaign displays (leaflets, posters and TV screens)

Attend Practice meetings and staff training as required

Provide assistance to the management team

Responsibilities will be reviewed periodically in line with changing circumstances. Duties and responsibilities may be varied as required by the Partners and Practice Manager, in consultation with the post holder, in order to maintain a high standard, efficient reception/ administration service.


37.5 Hours per week (Monday - Friday 09:00 - 17:00)

The medical receptionist plays a key role within the team, as you are the first point of contact for our patients. You will support the smooth running of our practice covering a range of reception and administrative duties. You will have exceptional customer services skills and enjoy assisting our patients as well as liaising with other healthcare professionals.

This role will suit an individual interested in working within healthcare.

Reception experience desirable, however full training will be provided to the successful candidate.

This front of house role will require excellent people skills.

You must be able to work both independently and as part of a team whilst being able to adapt to the fast-changing challenges that working in a General Practice brings.
