The Cwm Taf Morgannwg UHB Salaried Dental Service is currently looking to appoint a Band A Dental Officer for Community Dental Services (CDS). This is a 37.50 hour, permanent post, providing dental care in the Cwm Taf Morgannwg locality. The post will be based in Dewi Sant Hospital but the successful candidate will be required to work in clinics across all localities, and to carry out domiciliary visits. A full driving licence and access to a vehicle is, therefore, essential.

The successful applicant will take up this exciting opportunity with a dynamic team providing the full range of community dentistry as per the guidelines in WHC 021 2021, working alongside consultants, specialists, dentists and a dental therapist.
The post holder will be expected to treat a wide range of patients including treatment under conscious sedation, emergency access sessions and special care dentistry for all ages. The clinics are involved in the outreach training of final year undergraduate dental students and the clinical supervision of Year 2 dentists on the Dental Core Training schemes.
The CDS is one of the largest salaried services in the UK with over 80 staff providing a diverse range of treatment to a widely dispersed population within South Wales. Dental care is provided from 7 fixed clinics and the Dental Teaching Unit, to patients north of the M4. The Directorate serves the valley communities in the Merthyr Tydfil, Rhondda Cynon Taf and Bridgend areas.

The CDS also runs the Welsh Government oral health improvement initiatives, Designed to Smile and Gwen am Byth, and epidemiology surveys in these areas.
