An exciting opportunity has opened for an
Engagement Worker
to join our Knowsley Integrated Recovery Service. You'll work with highly skilled colleagues across the county to support and engage people in drug and alcohol treatment services. No two days will be the same and we're looking for people who have a range of skills and expertise, who believe in being open, compassionate and bold in everything they do.

You will be focused on helping people to achieve positive outcomes by supporting their personalised recovery journey, through thorough assessment and support planning. You will be open, compassionate, and driven to provide the very best care and support for everyone. You will need to be self-motivated with excellent communication skills and be comfortable working with multiple teams internally and externally.

About the role


  • Engage people who have substance misuse problems and provide them with advice, support and recovery focused interventions to support their access into treatment services
  • To complete personalised assessments with service users wishing to access structured treatment
  • To book nurse alcohol assessments with a member of the clinical team where the need has been identified. Where a clinical assessment is needed.
  • To liaise with partnership agencies who are referring service users to update with regards to engagement
  • To deliver robust harm reduction and brief intervention advice during the triage process
  • To be responsible for managing the referral-In spreadsheet ensuring this is kept up to date
  • To effectively manage any safeguarding concerns that may arise during the triage process



About you


  • Have a strong understanding of substance misuse issues and experience of working within a similar field
  • Be an excellent communicator, both verbal and written with good IT skills
  • Proactive and able to work on own initiative with excellent time management and prioritising skills
  • To be flexible and able to work a late night on occasion .
  • There may be a need conduct home visit assessments where access to services maybe difficult there for having a driving licence is of an advantage to the role.
  • Have a good working knowledge of mental health interventions, services, and good practice
  • Be a supportive team player with strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work in partnership with a wide range of professionals, agencies, and internal/external stakeholders
  • Ability to manage change successfully in a way that prioritises the needs of service users
  • Understand the importance of information governance processes and commit to follow and apply all necessary safeguards
  • Seek out learning opportunities to improve and broaden your professional knowledge and skills and to contribute and oversee the learning and development of others
