Job summary

An excellent opportunity has arisen within our Neurosurgery department, based at the Royal Preston Hospital, for a Senior Clinical Fellow (Registrar Grade) to commence in post as soon as possible.

The post is part of the middle-grade neurosurgical on-call, which is currently a 1:12 Partial-Shift rota. However, this may be subject to change and regular monitoring. and basic pay is in line with Nodal Point 4 (MT04) which is £55,329 per annum. You will be based at the Royal Preston Hospital.

You will have responsibility delegated to you by the consultants, for the training and supervision of staff, including junior medical staff who work with you and you will devote time to this activity on a regular basis.

The Royal Preston Hospital is a designated Trauma Centre.

The Contract of employment will be for fixed term of 12 months in the first instance, potentially renewable for up to 2 years.

Although these are not formal training posts, this post will allow you full opportunities for training in a structured fashion similar to recognised training posts, including attending clinics and theatres. Please see the Job description for full details and person specifications.

Main duties of the job

You will be working at registrar level to ensure effective delivery of clinical care within the department.

This post is for an experienced neurosurgical trainee able to work at registrar level. It offers significant surgical and clinical exposure to enhance experience and will provide opportunities for training and career advancement.

Educational and research activity will be encouraged. This post is ideal for a senior trainee approaching CCT or aiming to apply for CESR.

You will be expected to work with professional colleagues and local managers in the efficient running of the services and will share with other practitioners in the medical contribution to management.
