To support the Directorate and Service Operations in managing and monitoring assigned aspects of patient safety and risk management activity. Assist in the continuous improvement of patient safety, building on the foundations of a safer culture and safer systems in accordance with the NHS Patient Safety Strategy (July 2.

Support the Associate Director of Patient Safety, Clinical Governance and Risk Management, Trust Patient Safety Specialist to incorporate the aims of the NHS Patient Safety Strategy and participate in the implementation of the National Standards for Patient Safety Investigation; and the management of incidents under the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF).

Undertake Patient Safety Incident investigations and reviews, as relevant as either lead or expert advisor.

Provide leadership, support and education to the multidisciplinary staff involved to ensure the continued development of associated skills within the wider workforce.

Work with multidisciplinary staff to ensure mandatory Clinical Risk training is developed and delivered in accordance with the Trust's Clinical Risk Assessment and Management Procedure (C0. Quality-assure and monitor training to ensure best practice.

The post holder will ensure the Trust's overall approach promotes an open and positive risk management culture in which staff pro-actively identify and prevent risks and hazards before they escalate, supporting the delivering of high-quality care to patients.
