The Respiratory Physiology Department at the Northern General Hospital is looking to employ a Respiratory Healthcare Science Assistant.

The post involves performing a wide range of diagnostic respiratory tests and assisting with investigations and treatment of sleep related breathing disorders. The role also involves training in other healthcare science tests including Echocardiography and Venepuncture.

The department has a commitment to in-house and national training schemes and all staff are encouraged to continue with personal and professional development.

We are a busy but friendly department and the successful applicant must be a well-motivated, enthusiastic individual who is flexible and can demonstrate an ability to work well both independently and as part of a team. They must also be able to demonstrate excellent inter-personal and communication skills.

Job Purpose:

  • To perform a range of physiological investigations on patients in order to aid clinical diagnosis and to provide factual reports.
  • To perform calibration and quality control on a range of equipment
  • To undertake all data documentation, clerical and admin tasks associated admin role.
  • To provide a range of general duties to facilitate service efficiency, including stock control and infection control procedures.

Role of Department:
