- To provide formal (ADOS-2) and informal assessment and appropriate advice in respect of the social communication needs of children and young people presenting with ND difficulties.
- To support schools to meet social communication needs of children and young people with neurodevelopmental difficulties.
- To liaise with local health and educational authorities as appropriate.
- To deliver workshops and trainings to parents/carers, colleagues and other professionals as required.
- To attend clinical meeting and in-service training as required.
- To keep up to date with new techniques and research for the maintenance and promotion of good practice especially in relation to students with neurodevelopmental disorders.
- Specialist psychological assessment, formulation and therapy to individuals, families or groups.
- Liaise with and offer advice or consultation on clients psychological care to parent and/or carers, colleagues, professional and non-professional staff in mental health services and appropriate agencies,
- Autonomously work and as part of a multidisciplinary team within professional guidelines
The SCAN service Supports children & young people with moderate to severe learning disabilities and neuro-developmental conditions, who attend special schools, where the degree of impairment is significant and coupled with mental health difficulties including severe challenging behaviour. SCAN works closely with the Cheviots (Enfield Children's Social Services), Paediatricians, and Special Schools.
The STAY project works with young people with special needs and behaviour challenges and for whom there is a risk of home or special school breakdown and admission to hospital or residential school/placement.
The service is based at Bay Tree House, Enfield, EN2 6NZ. However, you may be required to work at any other location of the Trusts interests, including travelling to appropriate meetings, outside of the borough, as required.
- To provide neurodevelopmental assessment, differential diagnostic assessment, support and intervention to individuals, families or groups in Enfield CAMHS NDS Pathway, under supervision.
- To provide clinical supervision and training to other clinicians and trainees.
- To be aware of the effectiveness of different targeted approaches to the treatment and management of social communication impairments for children and young people with neurodevelopmental disorders.
- To produce and implement plans for strategies and therapies targeting neurodevelopmental disorders, and using evidenced based interventions, across the full range of care settings.
