Healthcare Science Support Worker Higher Level
37.0 hours / week
Applications are invited for the post of a full-time (37 hours/week) Band 3 Healthcare Science Support Worker Higher Level in the Aberdeen Genomics Laboratory. The laboratory is part of the Scottish Genomics Network funded by the National Services Division to provide Genetic and Molecular Pathology diagnostic testing in Scotland.
Experience And Qualifications
Applicants should have education/experience to Vocational Level 3 or equivalent level of knowledge; knowledge of routine and non-routine healthcare science duties; proficiency in computer and keyboard skills. Applicants should preferably also have experience in a range of administrative procedures. Good communication, telephone skills and the ability to demonstrate attention to detail are essential. Experience with computer databases, patient registers and hospital record systems, and in a clinical laboratory environment would be advantageous, as would a willingness to learn new procedures and protocols.
The post-holder will be a member of the laboratory sample reception team and be responsible for routine and non-routine administrative duties including handling, receipt and dispatch of a range of patient samples, and data entry into the laboratory databases. The post-holder will also deal with telephone queries from users, and provide general administrative support and perform basic laboratory dutie
There will be considerable interaction with technologists and scientists within the department.
The shift pattern for this post is Monday to Friday 9.00am to 5.00pm.
